Made in Portugal

We make our jackets and coats in Maïa in Portugal while avoiding overproduction. First, we produce the orders made by our resellers, then, we produce a few stock for our direct sales.

Overproduction is excessive production where supply exceeds demand. In fashion, it leads to clearance sales, massive destocking which often resulted in the destruction of surplus goods. This obviously represents an economic waste, of time and money. It is also a devaluation of the goods and of the work carried out throughout the value chain of the garment, from the raw material through the fabric to mounting. By avoiding overproduction, we are committed to sustainable development, a reasoned production that respects its economic dimension, but also social and ecological.

Our collections are available online on our website and in our distribution network, which includes concepts stores and shops with sharp selections. We have defined for each distribution a model based on three points: avoid overproduction; promote proximity, while considering economic constraints.

Our models are parts with complex sleeves and the exclusive dimension of our productions based on small quantities, imply a high unit production cost. Our reseller network acquires each part at a wholesale price, allowing it to obtain a margin on its sales. The costs involved in production in France did not allow us to integrate an additional intermediary at the risk of having a significant impact on our selling price.

We also produce micro-stocks for direct customers. Those who acquire our pieces via our e-shop or our events. During each season we have several ephemeral actions carried out in department stores, independent boutiques or during events... We must present pieces there, ideally with a wide range of sizes and all the styles we have created.

For the moment, we produce very small quantities to avoid losses. Stock shortages are therefore frequent depending on the styles and sizes. We seek to collect as much data as possible during each season to adapt the quantities of styles and sizes produced for a production that is as accurate as possible.

We therefore opted for a European country as close as possible, with an industrial network allowing support at a cost more suited to our project.

Our coats made in Portugal are made in Maïa by Paula Borges, located in a region known for its intense industrial activity, particularly in the textile field. This family business, which has a hundred employees and works with many European luxury houses, testifying to its excellent know-how.
